Black Isn’t Just A Color & Being Different Isn’t a Threat
As time goes on it’s sad to see
How racism truly came to be
From slavery to police brutality
But it’s time for us to take a look at reality

Black Isn’t Just A Color & Being Different Isn’t a Threat
Africans were brought to America in 1619
A strange land that they had never seen
Just to be forced to work day in and day out to the bone
Children separated from their families
And sold to strangers, being left all alone
The women kept just to be raped
It’s crazy how this world is shaped.

Black Isn’t Just A Color & Being Different Isn’t a Threat
Gained our freedom in 1865
Just to be forced into separation 12 years later
Now tell me how does that sound
To live in a nation full of haters
Then the Civil Rights Movement started in the 1950s
From Rosa Parks to John F. Kennedy
It was time for our people to fight for our sanity

Black Isn’t Just A Color & Being Different Isn’t A Threat
You know it’s kind of funny
How everything seemed so bright and sunny
While everyone only knows a portion of what happened after the Civil War
Our people were arrested by the masses
Putting us a step behind
From children to the elderly
Oh how it was pure hell to see
The 13th amendment only partly abolished slavery
But that was only to clear a path for the worst

Black Isn’t Just A Color & Being Different Isn’t A Threat
There are 58.1 percent of whites and 38 percent of blacks in prison
But the rate of blacks going to prison is so much higher
The President and his goons ain’t nothing but liars
We are constantly racially profiled
Each day they push us further and further
To the point of exile

Black Isn’t Just A Color & Being Different Isn’t A Threat
Now we all know the events of police brutality
That have taken place in history
From Rodney King to George Floyd
But no one gets angry when a black woman or trans person is killed
To be honest it’s about time for us to fill that void
People have said Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice,
George Floyd, Michael Brown and many more
But no one said their name
And it’s a shame that no one is seeking justice
SAY HER NAME
BREONNA TAYLOR
SAY HER NAME
NA’KIA CRAWFORD
SAY HIS NAME
TONY MCDADE
SAY IT AGAIN
BREONNA TAYLOR
SAY IT AGAIN
NA’KIA CRAWFORD
SAY IT AGAIN

Now we all know that there are stereotypes about each race
I know I say this a lot but I truly hate this place
People have said that all muslims are terrorists
The main one that I’ve heard is that white people can’t dance
But the worst of them all are the stereotypes of black people
Black people love fried chicken
Black people love watermelon
Black people love Kool-Aid
Black people are ghetto or ratchet
All black people do is fight
All black people smoke weed
Black people are nothing but criminals
All black people are thieves
Do you know how hurt I am when I walk into a convenient store
and the cashier is staring at me all because he thinks that I am going to steal something
Why can’t you just give us a chance

Black Isn’t Just A Color & Being Different Isn’t A Threat
Since the death of George Floyd people have been rioting and looting
Then it went from burning cop cars and buildings
To police throwing tear gas and shooting rubbing bullets cracking people in the face.
If it was up to me someone would’ve caught a case
Now I want you take a good look at yourself
And tell me what is the purpose of this
Y’all say that y’all want justice and for them to stop the killings
Y’all want them to stop calling us animals
But y’all aren’t doing anything but showing them that we are animals
But it’s kind of funny
How no one sees the irony in this
But to me it’s clear to see history is repeating itself
It’s time for everyone not just us
To fight for everyone’s rights
Now answer me this
If you were in that position, what would you do?

Lift every voice and sing to our people of the United States of America
Let our rejoicing rise for our freedom for which we stand
One nation under God, all together for liberty and justice for all
Let us march on ’til victory is won!
