Reading R.A.M.M takes a non-traditional approach to learning through the use of project based learning as the engine using multimedia as the fuel. Combining multimedia, statewide curriculum, and benchmarks embedded with Social Emotional Learning (SEL), assists participants in developing academic competencies. Reading R.A.M.M.'s mission is to improve school culture, academics and to develop holistic student and teacher focused SEL initiatives to improve conditions for learning.

Youth Renaissance (YR), a project based solutions journalism, social studies, and social and emotional  learning initiative of Reading RAMM, uses multiple media approaches to the diverse learning objectives.   

This project highlights the voices of youth and their perceptions of the culture in which they live.  Mentored by media industry professionals, youth explore and creatively tell stories that benefit both themselves and the communities they serve through all facets of media.

The objective is to develop the skills needed for youth to offer a narrative which more closely resembles their stories, their communities, and their culture.  The end result is not just an exploration of real and perceived challenges in their world but will create and highlight solutions using multimedia and performing arts.
