YRC – Aye Dance (Summer Camp Edition)

What: Facilitated by Reading RAMM Staff and industry professionals, youth participants ages 9 – 17 were exposed to career paths directly linked to youth popular culture for seven weeks to produce the first School of Pop Culture Showcase July 30, 2016. The Aye Dance was developed during the music and song writing week.

Why: Understanding how toxic pop-culture is to youth and their education, Success Society School of Pop Culture Camp empowers youth participants to analyze youth popular culture and its impact on African-American culture. Workshops are designed to empower youth participants to analyze past and present culture; furthermore its impact on youth culture with embedded social emotional themes.

Utilizing career path workshops, multi-media, pop culture and culturally based exposure trips, participants will learn how to use pop-culture to enrich their educational career paths and design safe teen events.
